Endangerment of Sourashtri- Some doubts and suggestions needed
We all know that the Sourashtras of Tamil Nadu and southern India came from the area of modern Gujarat and the then land of Saurashtra. But now this language is EXTINCT in that area- (Vide :the Linguistic Survey of India Vol IX)
What may be the reasons?
Will there be completely no speaker of this tongue anywhere in the areas between Gujarat and Tamil Nadu? If so why?
In Tamil Nadu we, the sourashtras say that we are losing the usage of this tongue.
Is it true? If it is true what reasons can be adduced to this situation>
Can the Govt Come to the rescue to rectify this drawback? If so, in what ways the Govt can help these people.

Reasons for extinction of sourashtra language:
ReplyDeleteTill today there is healthy discussion going on between Ramarai script and Devanagari Script of sourashtra is proving that we are slowly recovering from extinction.but, still there is no effort has been taken to teach those script to students. Yes I agree that there is some group working on Devanagari script teaching one day training of sourashtra to different areas across tamilnadu where sourashtra people are more. Same in the case of Ramarai script, they are trying to reach those script by android app. Is both going to help in improving ? I doubt...... We can teach both script....that's not problem till we get concluded on which scripts need to be followed.....but we have to make sure that both scripts reaching the students properly....how?...
Here there is some suggestions..... We have to closely work with sourashtra school....means that,we should make compulsory subject/volunteer subject in 6 th to 8 the standard level.....but yes I agree that who is gonna teach.....fund from where for those teaching people?...... Volunteer don't work after certain level unless otherwise people are really benefitted by doing those works.....so what we have to do is simply connecting all people who are donating for sourashtra school or for sourashtra students....means make check point there....if sourashtra students has to get scholarship they have to pass sourashtra language exam conducted by school.....I guess it will work....if we apply the same principle to every sourashtra school..... We have to see every aspects where we can really improve....free lunch for sourashtra students , yes we can use this option also to teach sourashtra compulsory..... If you sourashtra students want to get food for free ,just pass the exam.....everyone will learn if we follow these methods.....sometimes we have to think and follow different way whether it really correct or not......relying on govt doesn't gonna help for improving the language......they will simply ask us that Do you have enough books to make it as subject?...the answer is no....so we have to start with what is available in our hand....
